Sewage Treatment Plants (STP).

Sewage treatment, also known as domestic wastewater treatment is the process of treatment and removal of
contaminants from wastewater and household sewage – both rxunoff (effluents) and domestic. It covers physical,
chemical, and biological processes and produces a treated wastewater stream (or treated effluent) and a solid waste or
sludge suitable for discharge or reuse back into the environment.

Sewage treatment process types

  • Conventional sewerage treatment processes:
    • Extended aeration (EA)
    • Moving bed bio reactor (MBBR)
    • Sequential batch reactor (SBR)
  • Advanced membrane process:
    • Membrane bio reactor (MBR)
  • Sewage treatment plant configuration:
    • Packaged plants – coated steel tanks
    • Conventional plants – concrete tanks
